Simultaneous drumming and bell ringing on Lunar New Year's Eve in Hoi An

The drumming and bell ringing on Lunar New Year's Eve is the highlight of Hoi An's New Year welcoming activities. There are also several creative events held in this ancient town and at My Son Sanctuary during the Lunar New Year.

Hoi An has planned various Lunar New Year activities, including a spring newspaper fair, flower festival, traditional craft displays, and the Lunar New Year pole (cây nêu in Vietnamese) ceremony.

On New Year's Eve, an art program associated with countdowns and fireworks will take place, with bells, gongs, and drums sounding from temples, pagodas, schools, and historical sites across Hoi An at midnight to welcome 2025.

On the 6th day of the first lunar month, Hoi An will host a tree-planting campaign, boat race, and Cau Bong festival.

Reportedly, Hoi An will suspend pedestrian activities from January 26–31, with some streets closing earlier, from January 19–31. Ticket sales and tours will pause from January 28–31 in the ancient town and January 28–29 in the Cu Lao Cham-Hoi An Biosphere Reserve. Private businesses will stay open.
