Recently, the creative city of Crafts and Folk Art of Hội An met, exchanged and learned from experiences with the creative city of Chiang Mai (Thailand), a member of the UNESCO Creative City Network.
Chiang Mai is a city that practices good creativity for “sustainable growth and entrepreneurship”. It has many similarities with Hội An, including unique cultural identity, unique crafts and folk art, and creative values.
Hội An joined the UNESCO Creative City Network and implemented models and initiatives registered with UNESCO. Exchanging, promoting connections, and learning from other cities' experiences will create additional opportunities, external resources, and available internal resources, allowing the city to deploy effectively and develop traditional crafts and folk art projects more effectively and sustainably.
Both cities are members of the UNESCO Creative City Network for Crafts and Folk Art. And they are located in Southeast Asia. These are common advantages for Hội An and Chiang Mai to promote international exchanges and cooperation in the coming time. Hopefully, both will collaborate to find opportunities to develop the creative cultural industry, promote sustainable conservation, and add effective values to the local community.
