The Happiness Shop is located at 331/8 Nguyễn Tri Phương street in Hội An city. It gathers many women with physical disabilities, but they always maintain a positive attitude, a love of life, and creativity in their daily recycling craftwork. They have contributed to providing value to life and people by preserving and developing Hội An traditional handicraft products.
Since its establishment more than a year ago (August 31, 2022 to 2023), Hội An Happiness Shop has achieved some success thanks to the efforts of all members. This space full of laughter generates a lot of recycled products every day. The Happiness Shop has assisted a small group of women with restricted health and various life challenges in becoming strong and achieving many proud achievements in their lives.
In addition to diligently creating recycled products, members also diligently learn new knowledge to improve their skills, perfect the products, and deliver them to the market. The Happiness Shop’s handbags, lanterns, hand fans, hair clips,... are well-received and loved by the consumers because of their positive values.
With an enthusiasm to learn spirit and the dedicated guidance of senior lantern artisans, the members were guided through the lantern-making process. As a result, the products they make have improved.
The Happiness Shop also regularly organizes workshops to gain experience and connect with relevant organizations and individuals, thus creating opportunities to meet a large number of customers and develop the network. It recently held an experience making lanterns and hand fans from leftover fabric at Yen Garden Lounge Hoi An which drew a large number of participants.
The Happiness Shop's members make the round fan representing heaven and the square fan representing earth, which are inspired by the yin and yang tile roofs in Hội An and are favored by consumers. They are available at Hội An Happiness Shop, Miukstyle No. 96 Trần Phú street - Đà Nẵng city (2nd Floor, Wonderlust Coffee), and 19/19B Trần Đình Xu street - District 1 - Saigon.
With many recent efforts, Hội An Happiness Shop is currently regarded as a humane establishment that provides useful values to the local disabled community. In a city aiming for sustainable development, establishments working for the disadvantaged always gain attention and high appreciation from UNESCO during the process of Hội An’s application to the UNESCO Creative City Network. This is a model that will certainly receive good marks during the application process for Hội An’s membership in the UNESCO Creative City Network in the field of Crafts and Folk Art.
