Korean Folklore Performing Group performed in Hội An Ancient Town

The Hong-Seong Folklore Performing Group from Korea performed at Ba Mu Temple Gate, Hoi An on the evening of July 1st, 2023. This program has brought special performances, attractive to locals and tourists in Hoi An Ancient Town.

Traditional Korean folk songs with musical instruments and dances,... associated with agricultural production activities. In the fields, they work enthusiastically and are also full of creativity and love of arts. As a result, each dance and each performance serves as an emotional story filled with deep human values for the audience.

Korean agricultural music was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2014. Through thousands years of history, this type of art has transmitted the sound and breath of the Korean people. Dances are performed with many funny rhythms, stirring up the atmosphere, increasing a love of life and production. Additionally, it is also the dance for peace, rain and wind, wishing for the best.

The art of Bài Chòi in Central Viet Nam is a diverse art combining music, poetry, acting, painting and literature. It takes two main forms: ‘Bài Chòi games’ and ‘Bài Chòi performance’. Bài Chòi games involve a card game played in bamboo huts during the Lunar New Year. In Bai Choi performances, male and female Hieu artists perform on a rattan mat, either moving from place to place or in private occasions for families. The bearers and practitioners of the art of Bài Chòi are Hieu artists, solo Bài Chòi performers, card-making folk artists and hut-making folk artists.
