The Triều Châu Assembly Hall- Where the patterns tell stories of a thousand years
Triều Châu Assembly Hall, also known as Âm Bổn Pagoda, is located at 157 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu. Triều Châu Assembly hall was built as a place for community activities and beliefs of Chaozhou people in Hội An and surrounding areas by overseas Chinese of Chaozhou state in 1845.
This religious building worships the gods who tame the waves and storm, thereby praying for smooth sailing and trading on the sea. The monument is structured in the style of the word 国 (guó) in Chinese with three parts: front yard, courtyard and the main hallwhich faces south and has a finely carved wooden frame with motifs and decorations according to folk legends and beautiful porcelain embossed works. Triều Châu Assembly hall is one of the assembly halls in Hội An with special value in terms of structure and architecture, proving the exchange between the residents in Hội An in the past. It is one of the three relics in Hội An that was ranked as a typical ancient relic of Việt Nam by the French School of the Far East (EFEO)..
