The ceremony to receive recognition of Thanh Ha pottery making (in Thanh Ha ward, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage took place on August 7.

Thanh Ha pottery village was established around the 16th and 17th centuries by a number of craftsmen from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An.
In the history, Thanh Ha pottery products were used for daily life, worship, and civil engineering (including bricks and tiles in Hoi An ancient structures). They were also recorded by the Nguyen Dynasty as the local product of Quang Nam.

In recent years, Thanh Ha pottery products have gone around the world through tourism activities.
Thanh Ha pottery was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019.
The anniversary of pottery ancestors is annually held on the 10th of the 7th lunar month.
It aims to commemorate the ancestors of Thanh Ha pottery village, pray for safety and prosperity, and promote tourism activities in Hoi An city.

Thanh Ha pottery village has currently about 32 operating establishments. Before the Covid-19 epidemic, this pottery village attracted about 1 million visitors each year.
